The Roadmap

Where the platform stands, what's next, and who holds each key. Nothing about this project is a black box.

What exists today

Every item below is deployed and tested on the real platform, not a plan.

Anonymous crisis chatTalk to a volunteer, front and center. No account, no name. Web + iPhone, and as of August the two wear the same design: one product, two doors.
Immediate-danger fast pathTapping "immediate danger" raises a volunteer instantly, puts the person at the front of every volunteer's queue, and alerts on-call. 911 and 988 stay one tap the whole time.
A plan is met immediatelySaying "I have a plan for suicide" is recognized the moment it is tapped: crisis lines on screen and a straight door to a volunteer, before any more questions.
Volunteer-suggested safety plansA volunteer can raise the safety plan from their console and the invitation appears on the person's screen, with the form theirs to fill or decline.
Every number explains itself911 leads with the question it really is. 988, the Veterans line and Crisis Text Line each say who answers in plain words, with the numbers kept visible.
One-tap emergency help911, 988 call and text, the Veterans line and Crisis Text Line, gathered into one block that works even with no signal.
Volunteer console + alertsLive queue, risk flags, claim protection, private supervisor channel, guided escalation, and desktop alerts so a waiting person is never missed.
Volunteer pipelineApply → interview → training → shifts → hours ledger with printable certificates.
Molly's admin consoleReview applications and promote volunteers. Nobody reaches a real conversation without her.
Follow-up check-insThe 0–7 day window: automatic at 30 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days, plus a volunteer can write their own. Email or notification, one tap stops them.
Safety plansBuilt with the volunteer during chat: warning signs, skills, people, reasons.
Under 18s routed to people set up for themOne self-reported age question, nothing verified and nothing stored. Under 18s go to 988, Teen Line, The Trevor Project and Crisis Text Line rather than into a conversation, and are told plainly why. Immediate danger never asks an age.
Nobody is met with silenceIf no volunteer picks up in time, the person gets one message that says it is automatic, repeats 988, and adds 911 when they have said they are in danger. It does not close the conversation or stop us looking for a person.
Delete your own conversationFrom inside the app. Messages, answers and safety plan erased, check-ins stopped. Nothing about what was said survives.
Supervisor oversightA separate view for supervisors and above: who is on shift, and every conversation nobody has claimed yet, oldest wait first. One click opens the person who has waited longest.
Impact dashboardConversations, median time to a human reply, check-ins delivered, volunteer hours and the record of wrapped-up conversations, all read live. Labelled as testing figures until the queue serves real people.
Finishing a conversationA volunteer wraps up when it's done and it leaves the live queue. Nothing is deleted, check-ins carry on, and if that person writes again they come straight back to the top. Ending a conversation is never a way to lose someone.
iPhone betaBuild 6 (in-app chat) Apple-approved for the family. Build 7 (check-ins) in internal testing.

The honest critical path

What we're waiting on

None of it is code. Two things unlock everything else:

Charlie Care · counsel The counsel packet Terms of Use + Privacy Policy text, background-check policy, clinical protocols, training curriculum. The privacy page is the one item holding back the App Store submission.
Molly Volunteers Share charliecare.app/volunteer, review applications, interview, promote. The promote button is the gate, and it's hers alone.
Molly + counsel Whether we serve under 18s Today they are routed to Teen Line, The Trevor Project and 988 rather than to us. Serving them ourselves would mean background checks on every volunteer and a position on mandatory reporting, so it starts with counsel rather than with code.
Apple + clinical Check-in notifications The notification version of check-ins is built and waiting on two things: Apple push setup, and the clinical call on what a Charlie Care alert should say on a locked screen someone else might see.

The launch sequence

Week 1, foundationsCounsel packet requested, billing set up, round-the-clock uptime monitoring armed. Beers Labs
Weeks 1 to 3, first volunteersApply → interview → training, then one full live drill (volunteer on shift, test user in the app, including an escalation) before any real person in crisis ever touches it. Molly + Beers Labs
In parallel, App Store reviewPrivacy page goes live → submission. Review for a crisis app realistically takes days to two weeks. Apple
Last, arm the live queueReal users only after counsel items, insurance, and trained volunteers on shifts all exist. Soft launch with published support hours first, so the queue is never staffed by nobody. The charliecare.app domain transfers to Charlie Care at go-live. Dylan-gated
Every month after

Steady state

A monthly health report to the board: uptime, conversations handled, check-ins delivered, response times, and what changed. Crisis numbers re-verified on every release, forever.
